Manchester United Vs Manchester City October 2023

Manchester City Dominate Manchester Derby, Thrash Manchester United 3-0

Haaland Inspires City to Victory

Manchester United's Woes Continue

Manchester City cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over arch-rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, October 29, 2023, thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland.

The result extends City's unbeaten run in the Premier League to 10 games and sees them move level on points with league leaders Arsenal, while United's struggles continue under manager Erik ten Hag.

Haaland opened the scoring for City in the 26th minute, tapping in from close range after Phil Foden's cross found him unmarked at the back post. The Norwegian doubled his tally just before the hour mark, converting a penalty after Casemiro was penalised for a foul on Bernardo Silva.

Foden added a third goal for City in the 68th minute, curling a shot into the bottom corner after being played through by Kevin De Bruyne. The visitors could have scored more, with Riyad Mahrez hitting the post and Jack Grealish wasting a glorious chance from close range.

United, meanwhile, were toothless in attack and never really threatened to get back into the game. Cristiano Ronaldo was ineffective, Marcus Rashford was well-marshalled by City's defence, and Bruno Fernandes was anonymous aside from picking up a yellow card for a late challenge on Rodri.

The defeat was United's third in a row at home in the Premier League, and leaves them 10th in the table, 14 points behind leaders Arsenal.
